About HexaHabit
Why I built it
I used to track my habits in a spreadsheet. It helped me adopt new behaviours and looked great on my laptop, but using it on my phone was clunky. I had to scroll sideways and scan through my spreadsheet app to find what I needed to update. Doing that every day became a chore.
I wanted a simple interface that showed me today’s habits in a list I could tick off. So I built HexaHabit.
How it’s meant to be used
Keep it light and repeatable:
- Open the app once a day.
- Tick off what you did (leave misses blank).
- Close the app — ~20 seconds total.
HexaHabit handles the visuals for you. You can look back at your month and see which habits were getting completed and which ones were lagging behind. From here, you could adjust the habits. A real life example for me was getting in 10k steps in a day which I found that I was missing quite often in a week, indicated by a streak of red in my calendar view. I adjusted this to 8k steps and was much better at adopting the habit. In the opposite direction, I had a goal to have my supplements daily. I got very good at this and is a habit I have baked in to this day. The green streak for this habit showed that I could retire myself from tracking it now that it had been implemented in my life.
What’s in the app today
Clean daily logging
Fast, focused check‑ins with a minimal UI.
Weekly habits (by day)
Schedule habits for specific weekdays. Unscheduled days don’t penalise your visuals; in the grid they appear grey (not red).
Colour‑coded calendar
See streaks and trends; tap a day for completions and details.
Smart reminders
Set a daily reminder or per‑habit custom nudges — supportive, not spammy.
Archive & evolve
Retire seasonal or ‘complete’ habits without losing past progress.
Edit or delete
Fix names, fine‑tune scope, or remove a habit entirely.
Where it’s going
Incremental improvements guided by user feedback — without bloat. On the near‑term list:
- Dark mode — easier on the eyes, same clean UI.
- Journalling — optional reflections alongside your habits.
- Non‑binary logging — track ranges/values (e.g., calories) and see weekly averages to support flexible goals.
